i dont know much about CSLs im afraid! Steve is the one to talk to but from what i hear its worlds apart from a regular e46 m3. it wont be quicker for sure but its more than just straight line speed?! other than the acceleration of the 335i theres not much more to it really? |

Thanks for that mate did you get them from these guys? if so how much were they shipped , they look well cool.
I love the CSL just not sure if its a step back thats the thing I know its probally a better car than mine but its older and not so well specced as mine also a bit boxy looking now after the smooth curves of the e92 but very tempted though will see what sort of deal I can get from the stealers. By the way just been looking at your car , very nice mate . |

thanks
thats just a quick link that i searched. i got it direct from Terry at BMS took 7 working days for delivery i got mine when the rates were good, never had to pay duty from the stuff ive ordered from him, i might be lucky? http://www.burgertuning.com/dcintake.html **********s are pretty reliable too i shud imagine Yeh worst thing is the dash which really looks dated now. also no Nav unless u retrofit and shite stereo doesnt do it for me either, other than that depreciation must be solid? always nice to have the newer shaped car i suppose. i wont be happy when the LCI e92 come out |

I believe that, "on track" is where we can differentiate between good drivers and shite ones...the 2 cars will be quite close provided they are being driven by skillfull drivers...both pushing 400bhp circa and having similar 0-60 times...the driver's skill will determine the outcome!
Looking at the Japanese Touge battles, driver's skills does make a hell lot of difference in the outcome....( eg rx7 400bhp V/S gtr 600bhp, on the bendy mountain roads, it all comes down to the driver) On track, Stig/ Keichi Tsuchiya in an S2000 (circa 250bhp) will make M3 average drivers blush! |

On track, Stig/ Keichi Tsuchiya in an S2000 (circa 250bhp) will make S5/ RS4 Audi average drivers seek counselling afterwards!

back to the OP, I think with similar drivers, the 335i will be ahead! but then again i'm biased!...rear wheel driving skills (mixing drift/slide technique with the racing line) and the great suspension, bring on the s5/ rs4 anytime baby!!!
i'll eat them for breakfast!!! |

Not sure on the outcome round a track, but I would imagine a 400bhp 335i would definately have the legs on a RS4 on the straights, no worries.. But it was a RS4 that got me in trouble, so make sure you compare the performance difference on the track, unlike me.. LOL

I dont think all RS4s are equal.
I was on the M56 in the M6 and i had a little spat with an all white RS4 avant and even though i was faster there wasnt a lot in it. I have had a go against a 335i and demolisehed it so its all a bit

From the RS4 corner....
The avant is 1710kgs as stated, but the saloon is roughly 60kgs lighter. They do not seem to make manufacturers figures, but seem to make anywhere from 370-390ish, which is a bit of a shit really, but on the road, they are very, very fast. I am really pleased with mine, and find the handling superb, especially as you can use all of the power all of the time. I would agree that a 400BHP 335 would have it on the straights....maybe, but that's about it, the handling would is in a different league on the RS, especially with braking, as the stoppers on the RS4 are immense. Evo tested the RS4, 4.5 to 60 and under 11 to 100, which isn't slow by any means. It wasn't world performance car of the year 2007 for nothing........ I would say to anyone that hasn't driven one, go for a test drive, you won't be disappointed. I still haven't driven an E90 M3, but am looking forward to the day. And that time for the E46 M3 around the TG track looks too slow doesn't it? Surely that was a wet track or something??? Anyone? |

Yeah the RS4 is a cracking car, but i went out in one around the ring and wasnt impressed. But that was more to do with the driver...
