335i order - fed up

I'm in need of some advice -

Ordered a loaded e92 335i July 7 - the date pricing became available and my dealer let me place an order. Put a 2k deposit down with an estimated arrival date of sept 1. Due to the nav delay, my car arrived in NJ on 10/6 on the Manon and has been sitting there since. A number of other similar 335's were delivered within a matter of days.

Currently my dealer claims that there is a problem with the BMW assist system and that the parts to fix it are "on order". They also claim that this problem is affecting a number of the other cars they are waiting for - a 5 series, another 3 series, etc. They are unable to provide me with an estimated delivery date and claim that the VPC tells them that "it will be fixed when its fixed". The dealer has also stated that they have requested that my car be moved to the "Front of the line" for the parts, but don't have much confidence in the VPC that the car is actually being tagged as a priority.

At this point the car is over 2 months late and has been sitting in NJ for a month. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this expedited? Although the 335 coupe was my first choice for a new vehicle, I would rather purchase my second choice than sit around for an unknown amount of time. Is there a regional manager or anyone that I can contact that might be able to provide some answers?

Good luck. Mine has been sitting since 10/19. As near as I can tell, it's just the 335s (both E90 & E92) with build dates prior to 9/15 that are being delayed.

Stressdoc, Did you do ED by anychance? I just looked at my paper work and it indicates: Act Prod Date as: 9-17-2006...... Nav & I-drive worked just fine when we were in Munich. I hope mine doesn't get held up for some wierd reason for redelivery.

Yeah, the sales agreement expired 11/1 so I'm trying to negotiate the dealer into dropping the price to $500 over invoice.

However - I want the car! In my opinion, it's the best coupe under 50k and I just want to take delivery before upstate new york freezes over.

That is a great idea..... That is the least they can do for the inconvenience you've been through..... I sure hope you get something worked out. Keep us posted & good luck.

I would get your money back and go to another dealership. I've never heard of spending this kind of money on a car and it will be fixed when it's fixed. How about a 328 loaner in the meantime?

I saw on a M5 forum a guy did not put up with the run around, and told the dealership to keep their stinkin' car after it arrived. And that was a 92k purchase. Plus, I would never pay that kind of money for damaged good--needs to be repaired before it even reaches the dealership? No thanks.

What is this mysterious $500 over invoice? Say the list is 46,470, what does the out-the-door price turn out to be?

Ask the Sales Managers at these dealerships to contact the Regional Managers and have them find out what's really going on and let them know you expect an answer within a day or two or maybe they can get approval from BMW to give you loaners till your cars arrive

Hmm.. My build date for my e90 335i was something like 9/7. I didn't have any hold-ups, so I'm not sure what problem skibumm's CA is referring to.

I don't think it's an issue with the dealer - they are calling the VPC and being told that "it will be done when its done". The dealer has been very apologetic about the delay, and they are the ones taking the hit on the price of the car. I'm going to call BMW NA today and raise some hell to try and figure out what the problem is.

Mine hit the Prep Center yesterday - does that mean I'm clear? B/c of a few delays, the dealer gave me a 5 series to drive around until my car arrives...

Sounds like my dealer will be getting straight 5's on my customer satisfaction survey.
