Custom Mapping with the JB3 1.3/Tuning Gauge - Map Guide

Thought I would post this up for you guys as a few of you are running the BMS boost/tuning gauge with your JB3 setup.

For those who don't know what the Tuning Gauge is, its a boost and IAT gauge which also allows you to fine tune your JB3 and create a custom map. Whether you want more low end or high end power you can just dial it in and test it out.

Here is a guide what the tuning gauge can control for those who haven't seen it and what the built in JB3 maps have. The chart isn't exact but a guide to show you what each map is doing. Even if you don't have the gauge the chart should let you understand more what each map is doing.

LB: Base boost level. Note: Map 6 is set to 11.
HP: Additional boost above 4500rpm. Added on top of LB. Note: Map 7 is set to 5.
AF: Air/fuel ratio. 0=stock levels, F=max rich. Note: Maps 6+ are set to F, 1-5 are set to 1.
PD: Pedal Input / Boost Gain. Higher = faster boost build up, more chance for overshoot. Note: All maps set to 6.
SD: Solenoid prespool (lagfix). Higher = more prespool, more chance for overshoot. Note: Map 7 is set to 6, map 6 set to 0.
AD: Air intake temperature boost decay. Higher = more decay. Note: Map 7 is set to 8. Race maps set to 0.

Does the tuning gauge just plug into the empty port on the latest JB control unit or is additional wiring or plumbing involved?

plugs in right into the DB9 plug on the new JB3 boards or the one you get when you order the tuning gauge.

That's what I thought. My JB3 is a new one with the DB9 plug.

But is the tuning gauge really worth almost $300?

if you look at what you get, any worth while boost gauge alone costs like 150+. This allows you to not only monitor boost, but your IATs which is very important in my opinion. That's really the one thing I look at the most, since I dont have an FMIC yet. It also allows you to switch maps on the fly with out having to pull over and turn of the car and so on. And with the provided info, you can make your own changes to fit your needs. Like less lagfix, more torque, less HP... and so on and so on.. .if you're in a hot place change your fuel ratios and decay...

I'm not a sales person, that's just why i got one...
