I’m starting this thread in hopes of chronicling the turbo 335i in extreme conditions. The extreme heat (100-115 degree) testing provided by states such as Nevada and Arizona is quickly going away as we move into fall. This is the only time we will be able to experience these conditions until next year so it will be nice to have a log of peoples reactions test driving the 335i now and then a follow up in a couple months when temperatures are normal (60 & 70 degrees for comparison by the same tester).

Has anyone taken a 335i test drive in Arizona, Nevada or other extreme temperature state? I was wondering how the turbo reacts under these conditions. Is there less power than expected? More lag?

I live in Arizona and plan on buying a 335 in the near future. I will be test driving soon. It will be nice to know how this car will react when next summer rolls around. I’d hate to find out 8 months after I buy the car that is acts like a dog in the 4 month long summer heat.

It still will have more power in the summer than the 330i. Maybe you could try water spary on the intercooler like the Evo if you are so concerned.

Did just last weekend. Temp was about 100, no problems.

It was a 10 minute 'test' but I drove a manual 335 on Wednesday at North Scottsdale BMW during the middle of the day and the car had just come back from another drive...I detected no issues but the only way you are going to really tell is by driving the car yourself for over the entire year.

Luckily my primary home in AZ is at a much cooler altitude than the hell Phoenix is.

Its good to hear the positive experiences with the 335 in Arizona. Its still at the top of my list of cars to buy before the end of the year.

Threads like the guy in Oregon that noticed the temp guage was at 4/5 during a short ride (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=164743) still worry me since AZ is significantly hotter than OR. Hopefully we wont have overheating threads next summer.

No worries. Had my car at the track last weekend. 4 20 minute sessions with a passenger, running hard...270 was the hottest
