Pro Nav - Speed Cameras
I managed to get speed camera data on my Nav - following advice from Mathmos here:
http://www.bmwnavaddpoi.co.uk/ It wasn't easy to create the eng.lsc file, but once you have it it's easy to copy the disc insert the new file and burn a copy with the poi data installed. If you have any doubts that we are plagued by speed cameras check out these screen shots If anyone would like any help with this I would be happy to oblige. I can also upload the files needed so that all you have to do copy the disc, insert the files and burn. |

Would it be possible for you to upload the entire disc itself so that we can download it whole and just burn it to a DVD. This would be much easier!!
Thank you and great work!! |

NFS - I'm very interestd in this. Not brilliant at burning/copying things so I will need your help. Any chance you could do a disc for me and I cover any costs? Or is it so easy you could walk me through it?

The discs are about 4.6 gigs as well, so sending them over the net would be difficult, even though I have a pretty fast internet connection (1.3meg up and 14meg down ). Options are : 1. I burn and send you a copy of my disc - but you will not get postcode search. 2. You create a copy of your disc (I can talk you through this) and I help you amend it and burn it. |

I already have the amended files for the latest disc, I could create a set for the older one as well and just e-mail them to anyone interested. You would have to create an image of your disc on your PC, insert the new files and burn it. This will be quite easy - much easier than creating the files from scratch. |

I used a Verbatim DVD + RW Then you need to download this programme: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail...r/1011845169/1 To copy the DVD follow the instructions here: http://www.bmwnavaddpoi.co.uk/imageway.htm This will create an ISO (disc image file on your hard drive). You will need to extract files from this image and copy them back to it, for which you will need an ISO (image) editing programme. I'll send you a PM about that |

This means you will need a text editor prog and cygwin to run the perl script. Trust me - it is MUCH easier than it sounds - just follow the instructions here: http://www.bmwnavaddpoi.co.uk/imageway.htm The instructions are excellent - just 2 things to note that I thought were not totally clear: In step 7 - for the TPD-SEV files the values for .idx and .url entries should be the same as the files you create in step 12. Just add 1 to the highest file number that you have. So if you have 00097.idx - it's 00098.idx Also when downloading cygwin - you need to read carefully to make sure that you select the 'perl' elements and make sure you install it to the directory suggested in the instructions. I'll send you a PM about the text editor |

Are the same cordinates available for the US? Just curious.
EDIT: This thread was a link from another, I did not realize it was in the UK Forum. Anyway, my question still stands -Brett

I'm expecting to take delivery very soon of my first BMW ... with the SatNav.
I will certainly have a crack at this. needforspeed: I notice in your pics that your display also shows a road symbol with an exclamation mark. I'm not familiar with the BMW SatNav system, is that related to the location of the speed cameras ? D.

The exclamation mark sysbols are TMC (real time traffic) information. Red surround if it is on your satnav route, black if it is not. there are also other TMC symbols such as two cars with one of them on its side to show locations of accidents etc. The extent of the queues are shown by arrows alonng the affected stretch of road.

Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't offered any real time traffic option here in Switzerland.
Looking forward to getting my hands on the new car and the DVD to play around with adding these cameras D.
