new 335i sedan with 1500 off msrp.
Should I take the plunge?
black sapphire with black int. sports, prem, cold, nav, comfort access, automatic, for 51,195 msrp dealer is giving me 1500 off the coupe because I walked in with a friend who bought the 7 series a year ago. Are you guys getting money off msrp? I called 2 dealers and they would not match. Basically told me to stuff and pay msrp. thanks in advance. |

calculate the "Invoice" price of your car, using the stickies in this forum...
then use that to negotiate UP from invoice... I got 2000 over invoice (which ended up being $1610 off MSRP) You can squeek a few more bucks off by starting on their number, becuase then you are negotiating sheer profit (plus fees) |

Ummm. Yup.. Do it. You only live once, and whoever dies with the most debt wins...
Or is it toys? Uh.. To hell with it. Buy it. That's on-par with some of the decent deals I've seen on the forums. |

$1500 is not much but i'm not sure how hot the coupes are now. someone mentioned they're selling really well so it may not be that bad of a discount. but in general, i would not take $1500 MSRP discount.
by the way, that is a very typical dealer move with your friend. if there was a stripper in a santa clause costume down the road, they would've told you "well, since there is this stripper in a santa costume down the road, we'll give you a special discount of $xxxx off of MSRP, but you gotta act fast, it won't last long!!"

Ok, BUT I really tried to get dealers to come down in price, off msrp. They politely told me to stuff it. I tried to tell them another dealer was giving me 1500 off and they would not match. Most I got out of them was 200 dollars off msrp. SO in the end, I feel the dealer who I have bought the car from (thats right pulled the trigger after lunch) is giving me a special deal because I came in with a friend earlier.
I may be wrong, but simply put no one could match the price ! |

What I realized with the BMW is that it's not the time to "nickel and dime." With a Nissan, you've gotten 5k off (with rebate), you ask for another grand and you get it. Then you start thinking of anything else you can get, mats, touch up, free oil change, tickets to the football game, secret decoder ring, etc. I found it's not the BMW way.....and I'm glad.
But what is the case is you've got a firm offer of $1500 off--great! Now you tell another dealer and name the 1st dealership, they will beat if possible. My gut is 1500 to 2000 is a good place to be. I know 2 people claim they got 3300, but you know, somebody has to be the ace and we are merely kings. I got 1700 based on shopping via the internet, and then telling my local dealer. The other thing is the order thing--if a dealer has no orders that aren't sold, I don't think it does anyone any good for them to write a sale regardless of the discount...after all it does take 6-8 wks to get the coupe under normal circumstances....good luck! And make sure if you put your deposit down, you have an order# and the CA shows you their screen with your name on it. my .02...... |
