Far be it from me to challenge a German engineer, and I know that synthetic oil is superior to dino oil in terms of lubrication. However, there is one reason why I change my oil sooner than BMW specifies-
*The oil is dirty* And a reasonable person would agree that dirty oil is not good for an engine. Enough said......... |

Sorry but BMW changed the service schedule not too long ago on everything so I'm not buying the 15k change. I will change every 6 months or 7500 miles whichever comes first.

i just called a local dealership and asked and their answer was " if its not time to do one based on your computer, you will pay out of pocket" i asked them how they justify this and they said " if we did this.. what do we have to change your brake pads every month because you say so? We have a system we use to determine wear and tear and average consumption for each product. If you abuse your car, then obviously you void your warrenty. Do you abuse your car?" seriously i wanted to yell a profanity but instead i played the political game back and said " no. but its unfortunate that bmw displays ad's on television saying everything is covered including wipers, but fails to mention its based on a bmw's decision of what is acceptable wear and tear to replace. Seems like a false advertising suit waiting to happen" at that point the bmw service manager said i should take that to corporate and to which i said i will call back if i have any more questions |

BMWNA does reimburse the dealership for scheduled service and warranty work, otherwise you pay for all the work you want them to do. It's very simple actually. Why would u expect the dealership to do unscheduled work for free? |

when my car has 49,900 miles on it....i'm going to ask them to change the wipers, rotor, brakes, etc......
the dealer will probably say "no!" free maintenance = 2 free oil change

They will if the brakes, rotors are not within spec. It's part of the scheduled maintenance. They're supposed to check those items. Wipers, I get those changed every year. It's nothing to them. |
