Which BT profile does mobile need for phonebook xfr

I've been wanting to buy a phone/pda for a while. The O2 and iMate brands look pretty good, and in particular the latest O2 XDA atom is fully featured. Here are the (vendor claimed) supported BT profiles:
- headset,
- hands-free,
- object push,
- serial port,
- dial-up network,
- advanced audio distribution (A2DP),
- Audio/Video Remote Control (AVRCP)

Is there any guarantee based on the above that the phone will
1. Sync with the car
2. Be able to auto-dowload the phone book

... I'm guessing No, because the mobile phone makers aren't doing a particularly good job of implementing the BT profiles ... but your feedback is appreciated.

I don't think there is any guarantee it is going to work unless it is on the list of supported phones by BMW. The CIP 20 software update seems to be taking care of most people's BT problems, though.

I'm not the guru of BT, but the fact that some BT phones pair up and others don't leads me to believe that it all depends on how well/completely the phone manufacturer has implemented the BT profile for hands free.

Has anyone here had much luck wit PDA phones? I have seen some mention of Blackberry but that's all.

I would say that as long as the phone runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 (or Smartphone 5.0) the phone syncs smoothly. Ik have experience with both an HTC-device and now a Samsung i320, no problems at all!!
