Front only coil-overs?

I'm interested in getting coil-overs only for the front of my car but everyone seems to only sell sets of four. Why? Is it bad to just do the fronts and leave the rears stock even if the coil-overs are adjustable?

It would be bad.. you don't want different spring rates and damping front to back. Handling would be compromised.

as tke344 mentioned the rear spring rate would be the real problem with having front only coil overs. If you buy a set of springs for the rear that match the front you'll be okay.

Not a good idea, the car will be completely unbalanced. The nice thing about coils is that you can individually adjust each corner so if you want to just lower the front, you can do that by lowering just the front two corners. With that said, I recommend having the car corner balanced to ensure the weight is evenly distributed and you do not mess up the car's balance.
