if i were you buy the alarm from like, circlebmw and install it yourself... First you'll save on buying it, then then installation, you will do it... DIY on this forum, and take it to them to have it flashed, and if they charge you say over... $100 bitch at them. talk to the manager, or managers manager, etc... untill you get it for cheaper. When i installed my e46 alarm and went to get them to flash it they told me it would cost in the high hunderds.. I was like "WHAT MF??? LET ME TALK TO YOUR MANAGER," then he was another knucle head so i talk to HIS manager... then ended up paying $50... F that bro, this time i'm going to do the same.

My poll choice is not up there. I have it, but don't think it's necessary. I bought it and installed it not so much as a theft deterrent, but because I wanted to hear my car beep when I lock it. Too often I walk away from my car with things on my mind and forget if I locked it, having the beep allows me to re-lock and get the audible confirmation. Also, if I forget where I parked it, it helps find it.

I don't have it and don't really plan to get it because I live in a very safe area and don't usually take my car to areas I am not familiar with. It would have been nice if it came with the car but I'd rather spend the $500 on something else more useful like Valentine One

It's probably not necessary, but I just love the way it integrates with the prewired electronics. The left fender well has predrilled holes and a cavity to accomodate the OEM alarm, the dome light has an electrical plug ready for the motion sensor, it turns on the clown nose, and makes nice sounds when the car is armed or disarmed. It's just a feel good item, but do you need it? Of course not, but for the $250 in parts, and nominal activation fee, I can think of much worse ways to spend money on your car.

How do I know if I have an alarm. I have the clown nose red blinking light. But my car does not beep when I lock it? Or I can set it to beep?

My past BMWs beeped and blinked upon locking, and this one doesn't. Does it bother me? Not several hundred dollars' worth. It can't be started without a key, and I don't leave anything in the car anyway.

My problem is, I have the OEM Alarm but when I unlock/lock it does not beep. The signal lights flashes, and the Red Alrm Blinker blinks too. But there is no beep.

If the BMW alarm has passive locking, Id consider it. With my current car, I've found it simply too convenient to get out of the car and just walk away and not have to worry about locking the car. I think this applies even more so if you have CA.
