What happened to Technik Engineering? I remember several years ago (my E46 days) they were king of FI it seemed. Now they're...gone?

Technik is still around, they do a lot of work in West LA. As far as their dominance, that's more E46 and it seems that they haven't been promoting their products that actively for quite some time. Though they still do build incredible project cars and get great magazine publicity. From what I remember back in the day when they were known as RENN Sport, the main owner, Samir, has other ventures and does not really need the money. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Sam left and founded Autotalent... he had been one of the driving forces behind Technik. I also think one of the other guys left and founded RENN Spec, so... not sure? It's all pretty confusing but they are good people and have been in the BMW market for like, 10 years.

My hat goes off to them, had RENN Sport stuck together, it would have been 5X harder for us to get to where we are. They were an incredible company back in the day and EVERYBODY bought from them - even Nick and I.

Thanks for the explanation Jon, I remember RENNSport was just fading out when I came into the E46 scene. Its a shame Technik isnt developing anything for the E9x cars, they really had fantastic products.

Well, you should call Sam from AutoTalent and see what they have. The chief mechanic of Technik back in the day is now at AutoTalent and he rocks. Sam's knowledge and ability to get good and fair pricing is also pretty awesome. They do very good work.
