Just asking a question, not meaning to yell "fire" in a crowded theater.

I was talking to my CA today, who made a comment, "All our cars are being held-up at the processing center." I didn't delve into it, but took it to mean she has customers before me whose cars have arrived and are waiting, perhaps longer than the dealership had expected. Since there are people getting their cars constantly on this forum, I wonder if and how many people are waiting right now for cars that have reached the VPC? And are there some that are overdue and by how much? Guess I was hoping that the VPC could turn my car around in 48 hrs., but if it's not the case, still like to know the scoop.....

My car arrived at the port on the 15th, and is still at the port/VPC without a workorder yet...

My car (an X3) arrived at the port in NJ on 10/27/06 and was released to the carrier on 11/14 - arrived at the dealer the next day.

I never did get a good explanation for the delay.

I have been a quiet observer of the delivery posts for the last week or so, thus now that I just picked up my 2007 e90 335i last night, I thought I could share some facts of my delivery to hopefully provide an indication of the current delivery process.

Production Build Date 9/6/06
ED dropoff 10/13/06
Left Port via the Liberty 10/31/06
Liberty Arrived to NY 11/11/06
Released to VPC 11/15/06
Arrived in Chicago 11/20/06.

I know that there has been some speculation that the 335i were being held up due to the DME reflash. My car is a pre 9/15/06, thus in theory it should have been reflashed. However, once in NY, it appears they quickly got my car to the midwest.

Hopefully this provides some relief to some of you. The hardest part has been waiting for redelivery of the car, but thanks to my great CA, Irv Robinson, the process has been ultimately fantastic.

My dealer was expecting the arrival of my car today to PR. My CA called this morning and my car still at the VPC awaiting for a vessel.

No explanations given!

My vehicle has been held at the VPC since it arrived there on 10/6. The dealer's explanation is that they are waiting for a part to fix a BMW assist problem. No idea why it is taking so long, but he gave me the impression that mine was not the only car affected.

My car spent 1 week at the west coast VPC. Most of the other Bellona peeps (same ship I was on) spent between 1 day and 1 week at the VPC as well. This is for a recent delivery though so it's possible older ones were being held up.

FYI, my SA said that the car would probably be at the VPC for 1 month as other cars of his were tied up that long. He obviously was incorrect as 1 week != 1 month

Thanks for the info, fellas, it can't get any more real than this! Well, I hope that if the Freedom arrives 11/26 as scheduled, and if my car is held a full week, that I can still pick it up 12/9. It seems realistic....only time will tell.

Looks like every ship and even each car could result on a very different story, if your car had any damage it will be delayed, even if you have some kind of option that has problems, like BMW assist or Navi that needs update that can be a reason to hold the car. So lets all hope this voyage of the Freedom is not delayed and our cars exit the VPC in 48 hours. By this time next week we should know, the time is coming guys.... fingers crossed.

What's the fastest and most accurate way to get information about your car while it's going from the Port through VPC and to the dealer? Is the BMW website way off, like it has been thus far? I'm sure the VPC scans the VIN into some sort of system. It would be nice to know when it gets into VPC and see if it has any extra processes to go through. I can't believe that some people's cars were stuck there for weeks. That sucks!

Will the dealer have an accurate date of when the car makes it through VPC and when it will be delivered to the dealership?

I believe the answer to your question is yes, the dealer should have an accurate picture. My CA said sometimes 24-48 hrs. at the VPC, but unfortunately, she made that comment that lately they seem to be holding "our" cars. When she said "our," I took that to mean that she has other customers waiting for cars ordered prior to mine, and already at the VPC, but not taking the normal quick turnaround time. My hope is that even if they took a full week, I might still get the car by 12/9...there's no way to say yay or nay for sure right now...
