Heated steering wheel . . .

I'm sorry if this was posted already. I've tried searching and nothing appropriate comes up . . .

The 2007 3ers have heaated steering wheels. Does anyone know if it's possible to order one of those steering wheels and install it onto a 2006 E90? And if so, does anyone have the appropriate part numbers?

My wife's X5 has a heated wheel, which I never really thought was anything special. But the cold winters in Chicago and the rest of the Midwest can be a bit numbing to the fingers. And the heated wheel helps a lot.

Thanks in advance.

it's very possible, many members have done the Mtech steering wheel swap
DIY here:

aside from the steering wheel, you'll probably need some other parts as well, where's the button for activating the heated wheel located?

I didn't know the 2007 3ers have a heating steering wheel. Very nice indeed.

I am not seeing this option on the BMW USA website. Can someone point us in the right direction? The cold weather package does not, for example, list a heated steering wheel.

My bad . . .

I'm sorry about this, guys. I was at the dealership this week and looked at both the new X5 and the new 3. I think I was just too excited and mixed up the two steering wheels in my head.

Yes, the 3 series does not have a heated steering wheel.

However, I think I'm going to do the change for the M steering wheel. Just need to figure out the parts needed as I don't have the sports package on my 325xi. Just as a side note, if anyone knows, which parts do I need to replace a non-sport steering wheel for the M sport wheel?

The 5 series and the X3 offer heated steering wheels, but the 3 series doesn't. I actually find the heated steering wheel more useful than the heated seats (but the seats do warm up VERY quickly).

My girlfriend's '02 Infiniti I35 Sport has a heated steering wheel, I absolutely love the feature. But on the bright side, as CnoteMD stated, our heated seats do indeed work very quickly and very well.

you could put a heated wheel on your 3. just get a wheel from, say, a 550, and then run some wiring and a switch. =)

Also... anyone who thinks that heated wheel is better than a heated seat must have REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY cold sensitive hands.

I can wear gloves. My heated seat warms a LOT of me. I'd hate to have to throw on a big parka, and some thick pants everytime I wanted to drive somewhere in the cold.

not to mention how bulky clothes compromise a comfortable seating position.

My '02 Maxima had it too. I thought it was gimicky when I first got it, but now miss it. I also miss Homelink which should be standard with any E90.

Yeah, seriously... I'm always at a loss of words when someone from Cali laughs about the usefulness of a heated steering wheel

Ugh.. I got so excited when I read the title of this thread. I wonder why BMW didn't put heated steering wheels on the 3er?
