I have a new '08 335i Cab which is a Canadian vehicle by the way, purchased in Canada.
I want to add the alarm in order to get the added security a a few more features it comes with.
I want to buy the alarm kit in the US because it is about 1/2 the price and I am traveling in the US now anyway.
So I bought the kit in the US and I have been told by both Canadian and US dealers that the part number is the same (65730427835) on both sides of the border so I am pretty sure that I have the right one.
But, inside the box all there is is a siren or horn looking thing and some brackets and screws and on odd looking L-shaped doo-dad. I do not see anything in the box that looks like the actual alarm. I expected to see something black-box in nature that houses the actual alarm.
Is this correct? I is my car somehow prewired for the alarm such that I now have everything I need?

if your car is wired like our US cars those are all the parts you get. I just did this last week and going to get it programmed shortly

I concur. For the E93, there is no ultrasonic sensor. The tilt sensor is in the horn (I believe), and you should also have the hood switch. Entry points and other electronics should be prewired, so after activation, you should be good to go.

If there is no ultrasound sensor, then will the alarm in an e93 not detect when someone reaches into the cabin? Wouldn't that be a key mode of protection for a convertible?

The owners manual for the 09 claims it has a interior motion sensor. Anyone verify. What did the dealer charge to program the alarm on after you installed it your self?

I was quoted $800 - $900 for the install even though most of the wiring is pre-install. so just told them no thanks!

That price is pretty bad considering there are only two wires to plug in and about a dozen or so screws to either take out and put in, oops, yes have to remove and reinstall the wheel/tire, that is expensive.... Morristown bmw sells the alarm for $130 plus $10 shipping.

yea know, i read the DIY and that's why i decline....it's BS they want to charge that amount.
