My L7 stereo stopped working

First off, my car is 1 month old. The CD player did not work from the start. I've been listening to the radio and my MP3 player so the dead CD hasn't bothered me. Yesterday, the stereo stopped working. All it did was display the time. I tried everything. Pushed and held all the buttons, turned the car on and off but nothing happened.

It was actually kind of weird driving without hearing music. All I heard was the whooshing of the turbo and some road noise. At the end of the day, the stereo mysteriously started working again.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

yes, it has happened to me in the past....I have to take my car to the dealer to get it fixed....it has been a while since the last time I had the problem, so I have lagged on taking my car to the dealer but here is a thread of others that have gone through the same problem......

I am currently having a similar problem - I made this thread about it. I am taking my car in tomorrow - hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it.

This is not a good sign if a lot of other cars experiencing the same problem. I hope there is a simple solution to this. It's ridiculous that something as simple as a stereo, an expensive and formerly free upgrade (to 335i owners), doesn't work properly.

Stock. My L7 CD hasn't worked from the day I got my car and my stereo did not work at all a couple days ago but seems to work now. Knowing my luck, it will probably not work when I need to go on a long road trip.

Has anyone ever gotten a diagnosis from the dealers about this problem? Mine does this sporadically also. It usually will start working again the next time I start the car if it sits for a few minutes.

My dealer updated the software in the car when I took it in for a new HPFP. Since then (April?), I haven't had the problem resurface.

Someone mentioned in another thread to leave a CD in the CD player to fix the problem. I've done that too so I don't know if it was the software or the CD.
