where to find current money factor?

Where can I go to find the most current money factor.

I'm looking at leaseing a 335 and want to know when they put the numbers in front of me that they are correct and not inflated.

Thanks!

Thanks! Is there a website where these are posted that I could look at periodically? How often do they change?

Do they consider the lessee's credit score, or is it the same, regardless?

You either make it or don't for BMW I believe. Have to have good credit, not sure of the score.

Also, should I expect those exact numbers, assume that anything higher is inflation on the dealers part and call them on it? Or is there some level of vations to be expected? Who determines those numbers?

Thanks again!

Why is the residual lower for the Coupe (Residual Value 58% of MSRP – .00175 Base Money Factor Rate) than it is for the Sedan (Residual Value 61% of MSRP – .00150 Base Money Factor Rate)?

BMWFS allows .0004 (equivalent to 1% interest) to be added by the dealer as profit. Just like purchase price, this is totally negotiable. I will have no extra on my 335 and did the same last year for my wifes X5. At the same time, I have seen people do better on price than me. The dealer has several ways to make money, so pay attention to every part of the deal. They are not going to give in on every aspect, so just make sure you feel comfortable in the end.

Biggest advice is know the numbers before going in and don't put money down when leasing. Lowers your monthly payment but doesn't get you any further ahead in the end.

I know, but those payments just get Sooooo painful if you don't put much down. I thought my $570/month payments on my $38k G35 were a lot, but if I don't put much down on a $45k car they are going to be even more scary. I know that money wisdom say otherwise though.

that may not be true. i have seen nissan money factors way over .002, where as bmw money factors are below that. Also, keep in mind the residuals may be more attractive on a bmw. You can do ED to save even more $$$ with a bmw.

just do your research and throw an reasonable offer out there. (any where from 500-1k) above invoice) I prefer to negotiate that way.

If you put that money aside in savings and took enough out each month to cover the extra pmt you would not feel the difference. You would not risk loosing that money if something happened to your car. You would have extra money in case of an emergency.

If you can't afford the full monthly pmt, then you certainly can't afford to risk your $3k down to an accident and you shouldn't be getting the car anyway.

It really makes no sense to put money down on a lease.

just out of curiousity where does the 2400 come from when determining the equivalency between "money factor" and interest rate

My dealer informed me that for every security deposit beyond the first one that the money factor would lower by .00007, the first lowering it .000015 and up to 7 SD's possible. The deal I have negotiated right now is $1400 over invoice with the .000175 mf and the above mentioned rate reduction variables.

You're right. I actually had this idea driving home tonight. Take the extra $4k I might put on a down payment and put it in a separate account to make part of the payments out of every month. I think I'd probably go that route if I end up getting the car.
