You may be able to use any wheel with RFTs

I spoke to Tirerack. they say that you can use any wheel with the runflats. that a wheel with a larger lip is absurd and that my dealership is wrong.
I called the local Toyota dealership, they say the same thing.

Apprently, some runflats need a special wheel because the wheel must be able to have a tire pressure monitor. Since our TPM use the ABS sensor, we can use any wheel we want.

I called Bridgestone canada to ask their engineer. I'm still awaiting their call.

My local dealership say that I must use the special wheels made tfor runflats that they provide.

anyone know what or who to believe ?

is this one of those things were someone can try mounting a runflat tire to a regular wheel and right away we would know if it would work or not, or is one of those things were it might hold pressure and appear to be working, then as soon as you get on the highway everything explodes?

just found this on Nokian website

http://www.nokianrunflat.com/index.php?mid=5

apparently, their runflat are meant to be used on a normal rim.

"The Nokian Run Flat tyre is designed for installation on a normal rim. "

I think, I'm going to get these tires and have a larger selection of rims for winter package.

just got a call back from Bridgestone Canada. The blizzacks LM-22 Runflat Require a special wheel with larger lip.
So for those tires, you need get a special wheel.
