Bluetooth retrofit TCU labour charge?
hey guys, as the title suggests. I just bought all the components necessary for the bluetooth retrofit on my e92. I have iDrive + 6FL.
Has anyone in the GTA done it yet and how much did labour cost ya? Thanks guys |

I called Otto's BMW here in Ottawa to inquire about programming for the Bluetooth TCU retrofit (I also have iDrive and 6FL) and they quoted me one hour @ $109. After reading the install SIB, I can't see it taking more than one extra hour for labour.
Hope this helps.

Hmmm, I am actually also looking at a retrofit. Where can I get the parts without getting raped by the dealer in Toronto?

I'm jealous. I picked up an 07 E90 thinking bluetooth was included with the premium package and it wasn't back then. With no iDrive the dealer (Elite Ottawa) said it'd be around a grand for a retrofit. That's a lot of jawbone headsets...

I know the part itself can be had for around 1k US on eBay... but not sure if that is the complete kit that a dealer or a BMW specialist can install...

hey guys, the general consensus is true - parts for the retrofit will range between $1k to $1200. I was lucky enough to get what I need from a salvage yard for a price I won't mention in case it makes SGxi and jasonintoronto feel suicidal

Well, seeing how it is from a salvage yard, you are set! I won't go suicidal, maybe just really, really, really jealous... Though I have to say, if somehow I found a set of front sport seats that's heated and electric, that would be awesome... Is the yard in Ontario? Or this is in US?

well, the parts have finally come in... i reached out to TCBMW but they seem to think a bluetooth retrofit is not possible (obviously not so). should i try another service rep or try another dealership?
can anyone point me to a shop in the GTA that's done it before? or I may just goto Otto in Ottawa haha.. one hour of labour, that's great! |
