The BMW cleaner is good stuff - the spoke cleaner is handy on the 225's as well (while it lasts).

Once you have got all the crap off a couple of coats of Poorboys sealant is well worth it although don't be tempted to put it in the spokes as you can't polish it out again and it just attacts the grime.

Strong work! You'll have used up some brownie points now I'll bet.

I've spent best part of 12 hours so far respraying my hubs, cleaning old wheels and new wheels (225s).

For the tar spots, the best thing I've found is a product not commonly found at Halfords... though in a decorators merchant near you...

Turps Substitute! Cheap and plentiful. Works far faster than any wheel cleaner I've ever tried. I tend to use any wheel cleaner (found they all work about the same) first, then go over with Turps on separate cloth (disposable tissues).

You can use TFR (very diluted) on bodywork - it's what commercial grade jetwashes usually use. The inlaws have one and it's amazing.

However I'm now being very careful to will stick to my hose (with low pressure attachment), sponges, chamois and polishing cloth! Will use TFR on the wheels only if totally needed.

If you want to keep down the amount of swirls on your black car you should scrap sponges and chamois and replace with lambswool wash mitt and microfibre towel.

How do you think dealer swirls get on your car?

Alan - my car currently has no swirls or scratches - at all. In fact the paintwork is better than any new car I've had. Will have a look at the wash mitt and towel though - thanks!

I have just had a quote for 25ml of this stuff for £36.25. I just cant understand how 25ml will cover 4 wheels (both sides). Anyone who has used this please advise if this is correct. thanks
