A question for the DCT experts
Have had my 335 with DCT for a week or so and am very impressed.
Just a quick question for the techies since the Manual makes no reference to it: In a conventional Auto with a torque converter, clearly you can leave the transmission in Drive or whatever when stuck endlessly at the lights, without incurring any additional wear. All you are doing is heating up the torque converter fluid! In the case of a DCT, where instead of a torque converter you have a dual (wet) clutch, am I incurring extra wear on the clutch(s) in the same situation or would I be better off switching briefly to Neutral ? Any thoughts would be appreciated ![]() |

Yes but presumably the wet clutch is slipping at this point... hence my question about whether it is worthwhile to put in into neutral in such circumstances, ie. during extended periods at the lights or stuck in traffic

Then it sounds like there's some friction going on. Good question - I'm curious to know the answer too.
