Wheel/Tire Size--'10 335xi m-sport pkg
Hey, I recently ordered a '10 335xi sedan with the m-sport pkg. While I patiently wait for my new toy, I have started my search for a seperate winter wheel/tire setup. Would anyone be able to help provide the size wheel/tire that would fit my car, I would probably go down to 17's for the winter? Also, any winter tire recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I am located in CT, so nothing overly aggressive is needed.
Thanks....... |

Have you thought about OEM 17" for the winter? I'd go with 225/45/17 tires in the winter.

Tire Rack has helped me out with winters
Quote:
I lived in Maine and my wife is a Mainiac, so we know snow, and we did just fine with our Hondas and all-seasons back in the day (1986-87 was Maine's fifth largest snowfall in history, so what). Knowing how to drive in it is key. But I digress. Just wanted to let you know our quals and background with snow. So, I wanted style as well as functionality and got both with a set of 18-inch Sport Edition KV5 and ContiWinterContact winter tires (with the snowflake symbol). Dude, they rock. I was passing trucks, SUVs, 4-wheelers with my pegleg rear drives, which are no match for your xdriver. OBTW, fast car + great winter tires + snow experience = safe and totally-in-control fun! It's not to say that the tires could lose control, but driving through 4-8 inches of "cleared" pavement, including ice patches, was a cinch compared to the knuckleheads who think that a 4-wheeler could never spin out. LOL I just know the limits of my vehicle and with 6MT, it is easier to negotiate the power and control my passage through the snow better. Hope this helps. You don't really need to get 17s, but narrow wins in snow; 6MT rocks in overall control; xdrive should be a cinch for you. |

Thanks for the response... The winter wheel/tire search is all i can do from keeping myself from going crazy until my car finally arrives in Oct. I am coming from an Audi, which always held its own with just all seasons for winter driving. But, i am looking forward to throwing on the winters and having a little fun in the white stuff. My new toy will also be a 6MT, so i look forward to learning the limitations of the car.
Thanks again.......... |
