Is it true that orders are entered only once a month?

I placed an order for a 335i coupe yesterday (December 7) with Fields BMW outside Chicago. They told me that the December orders were already in, and that my order would not be submitted until January.

Does this sound right?

I think that it is more along the line that each dealer has a quota of car allocated to him for a month production. And once their are above their quota they can either wait for next month or do some car swapping with some other dealer.

Being from Chicago myself, would you mind breaking down the type of deal you got with all the details? I'm trying to determine what types of deals other people are getting. Thank you.

I was able to squeeze someone into a production slot for December,but generally
orders are 6 -8 weeks out and you can get ED's for pickup in late January
