methods to remove a scratch, pros and cons

a shop is going to remove some scratches i have
what methods are there? buffing, colorsanding, etc
what is the best? long term, short term, etc
I know depth of the scratch will determine methods, I have scratches of varying depths

it's actually more simple than that

depending on how deep your scratches are, that's how aggressive you want to get. most of the time, especially on new cars, a polish like menzerna PO203S on green pad is enough. Some other scratches may require wet sanding then polishing though.

after that, it's best to learn to wash your car with good media so you minimize the chances of new scratches to come
