Bluetooth and Car Cradles

Just got my 2006 330d M Sport, which has already got a Nokia Advanced Blue tooth Car Kit included and works fine with my Nokia N96.

However it also has a Car cradle mounted to the left of the centre console ... Its all wired up with 2 cables, and is a Nokia one, but I have not got a clue what phone its for, but it wont fit mine.

Any ideas as to how to find out what sort it is, and also how I go about getting one for an N96, to replace it.

Cheers.

As far as I am aware, Nokia don't produce cradles for the current range of phones.

You can get holders for your phone including ones that will charge the phone whilst driving.

Try here: http://www.dsldevelopments.com/?gcli...FdYB4wod8QviLA

You will be able to disconnect the cradle you have and disconnect it from the control unit - the phone will still pair up via bluetooth.

If it has a bluetooh kit, why do you need a cradle, just leave the phone in your pocket....

Maybe a phone holder would me more like it so you can see the phone screen.

Hmm, agreed, however would be handy to have it in a holder that can charge at the same time, without having to plug it into a 12v socket everytime, ie wired in direct to a 12v charge source.

Maybe its not a "cradle" but its a Nokia Car phone Holder wired in ?

Here is a low res picture here to show what I mean :

That was the n80 holder - I think I still have one in my garage!

The Nokia cradles were good as they kept the phone charged up, allowed you to see the screen and use the keypad and most also featured an antenna connection that I used to have pre-wired to a tax-disc holder antenna so the signal was vastly improved.

Shame they stopped doing em

So there is nothing I can do for the N96 with this, I may as well take it out yes?

I would just unscrew the cradle and remove this and then attach a Brodit N96 active holder (remove the swivel mount so it will fit nice and flush) - I soldered a couple of wires onto the end of the lighter plug so it can be tucked under the console and hard wired in (tap off the wires to the Nokia car kit). This will give you the option of being able to see the phone and also charge it whilst driving.
