Anyways, will it be safe?
Per the FAQ section, you want to take it easy on the motor until you either get rid of the the 87 octane or add octane boost to get it to adequate level for your mapping. Then continue driving it like you stole it!!!

Exactly Octane rating dictates how much fuel can be compressed before it ignites (pre-detonation/knocking BAD). The higher the octane rating, the more fuel can be compressed before it ignites.

You can technically drive the car on 87 octane safely, you would just have to avoid putting the car under load/boost (when the engine is most prone to knocking).

How did the 91 Octane dyno turn out? Maybe I'm a day early? Also any solid date yet as to when our Xede will ship out?

I'm tuning a couple of cars in the next 2-3 days here. Should be interesting. As for XEDE shipments, that will have to come after our installation video is done. We're shooting it this weekend. Editing with take a few more days after that. I'm also going out to Florida next weekend to tune a bunch of cars. I would like to get those cars under my belt before we settle on baseline Xede maps. But so far things are looking nice. Despite a wide variety of cars, the same basic Xede map is proving to be safe and sound. Power numbers will vary at first (depending on adaptation characteristics in the ECU at the time of XEDE install). But after the cars are run a bit (and the ECU goes through its adaptation cycles, they should all fall into the same power range holding all other things equal (dyno, gas, conditions, etc,.)

We plan to start shipping Xedes out in time for Xmas. By that time, the install video will be on-line with enough documention to make the install a breeze. Unfortunately, that'll be vacation time for us so we will certainly be at very reduced capacity when it comes to providing on-line support. Those who are unusually adverturous can certainly install it during this time. However, we'd encourage others to hold off until just after new year so we can be around to answer phone calls and various technical questions.

Regards,
shiv

Yea really, I'm checking this forum 5-10x a day waiting for the results for the 91 dyno rating. I'm going to slap that thing on right when I get it.
I'm reasonably handy with cars so unless the XEDE was programmed correctly and everything works, I should have no problems.

Yeah, really Shiv, didn't you forget the <<< >>> after making that statement? Everyone will be off work with NOTHING to do except "run to the store" in there 335's. And you expect the Xede box to sit in the passengers seat until you get back????

I know the Xede can only store two maps. Dustin mentioned that you can always load additional maps to replace ones on it, how is this done?

If they aren't shipping already, i doubt anyone will be playing with their new Xede on x-mas morning. Shipping is always slow this time of year anyway...

Indeed. We spent all day and night yesterday wiring up and soldering the harnesses. Just enough for this weekend's Florida tuning session. That's our last opportunity to test the production harnesses before we start shipping the kits out. They will start trickling out of here the week before New Years. That'll give us some time to finish the installation video. So hang tight, we're trying to make the launch as trouble-free as possible

I REALLY appreciate the thorough manner in which you conduct your business... I know if I happened to be one of the lucky people getting an Xede, which I am not saying I am, then I would feel very confident in the product I would be getting, which I am not saying I am.
