My Sales Agent said that he cannot take my order 'til January?
I'm placing a military discount order and my salesman said that he will not be able to place my order until the first week of January. I was just wondering if any of you have been able to place orders at this time. The reason I'm asking is because I want to place the order and put the VIN number on the check so I can pay for it already. Any insight will be nice.

I think 2 things could be in play here. The plant, I'm told, shuts down briefly around this time of year and/or your dealer does not have any production allocation slots until January.
Someone please correct me if these items are wrong.

Even with an existing order, the VIN number wouldn't be known until the order reaches the body shop. My order was modified 10/7, but the car didn't go into production until late October. If I'm not mistaken, it was a week early, around 10/24.
In early Oct., a dealership told me he couldn't place the order until Mid. Nov. I took what he said as the gospel. However, a slew of dealerships at the time were saying why wait? We can order it now. And so I did. In the former, I believe the dealership has done well and sold their allocation. But if they cared about the customer, they would suggest the customer look elsewhere to get the vehicle asap. |

Thanks guys. I can't really go to another dealer, because he is overseas. I'm ordering an E92, but I'm so tempted to just buy a M3. Part of the reason I want to place my order already is because I'm so tempted to get the M3.

Never heard of them they must be in Europe...need some help let me know

If you want an E92, I would suggest you wait. Don't get the M3 due to the wait. I consider the M3 the performance car of the two, but there are so many nice gimmicks in the E92 that are both cool and useful. Also, M3 is more to repair imho. To me, the M3 is for those who really, really, want the highest performance. E92 is no slouch, obviously.
I think dealers play a game--I can tell you something like, "I can give you a 2500 discount. But I can't put the order in until February." Why? Because he's betting the discount will be around that in Feb. For those who will pay list, I'll put the order in now, or modify an existing one. I'm willing to take the car unsold into my inventory because I bet I can sell it for more than the 2,500 off, etc. That's what I ran into when I insisted on a discount in Oct. The guy was betting when the market price would meet my discount requested, and would put the order in as such..... It's unfortunate for those who cannot openly shop around, guess you're kind of stuck with one dealership.....good luck. |

when you place the order, put the production number on the check,it never changes and if you have a Jauary build, why wouldn't you be getting the car in February ? If the dealer will show you the DAR ( dealer activity report ) you will know the week your car will be built and when the build gets closer, you will know the date along with the vin number....good luck

![]() Like others have stated you can order it now but it won't be built until Jan/Feb if they get a early production slot. Otherwise it could be longer but they won't have a Vin # until then. Just use the production #.... ![]()
