"Rough Idle/Running" TSB - Dealer didn't want to fix

So my car has the "rough idle/running" isse when cold that's covered under the TSB. I took it to the dealer (Chapman BMW in Scottsdale AZ) and they said they would only fix it if they could duplicate the problem. Of course we know this isn't an every day thing.

Long story short, I put up a stink since I've NEVER had good service at the dealer that they "decided to go ahead and update the software anyway". Gee, thanks...........

Just thought I'd pass this along in case anyone else runs into this. Your dealer may or may not fix it unless they can "duplicate the problem". I get so sick of hearing that...

Hmm, dude if that ever happens again go to a different dealership. The dealer is paid by BMW every time a car comes into their service center as long as it's under warranty.

So next time they say no, say I'm taking my business elsewhere and make sure the service manager hears you

This was proved to be a canadian software issue only, and I think it was fixed

It wasn't a "canadian software issue". It was a tech screw up when they did a software update. They forgot to set something during the process and threw everything out of whack. As soon as the guy got the programming issue resolved his car was good as new with the updated version of the SW.

I've been told that there isn't any power loss, but it wouldn't hurt to GTech it again. I'm not sure how much it would show either way if it was a few HP loss. My best was a 4.8 while averaging around 5.0 with not so great launches. I'll try to do this tomorrow and report back!

Ado - I agree, the service at this dealership is HORRIBLE! Has been since my '95 M3 and probably always will be. I just keep going back because its the closest dealer to me...

I know how you feel, I did the same thing for over three years, I felt as if I wasn't wanted there every time I came but I kept going back as it was the closest one to me.

I even went back to the same dealership and placed my order for me new 335i. But that's manily because they gave me the best deal 4.4% off the sticker price.
