6FL Retrofit

I have read all the topics on e90post which cover the 6FL retrofit...

I own a 07 335i with Professional Nav, CD, Bluetooth, i-drive, Voice...

On all the discussions they speak about the Euro and US spec bm's but nothing about the AU cars...

Is it possible to retrofit in AU, has anyone done/want to install???

6FL is a must have factory option for a new car I think, but as far as retrofit goes I doubt its going to be worth the cost/effort. If you want to use an ipod, the BMW MOST adaptor would be cheaper ($300 US I think), and could be done as a DIY. If you need usb for other types of media players then mobridge would be better, but also more expensive. Either way you will lose CD changer functionality, but personally I'd gladly exchange my CD changer for 30GB of MP3s.

I think it can be done. I have the bmw bulletin attached...

I have been told though it's about a $1,000 job due to labour. I also think you can get an ipod adapter much cheaper that routes through your glovebox but this will wipe out the cd-changer.

BMW just called back and they said its not compatible with my car

Apparently my car has the upgrade hifi system and cannot be installed...

The mobridge system likes nice...

Im wondering if there is an aftermarket system that will do,
reverse camera
DVD playback
Mass USB Storage
ipod
and is controllable from the idrive.

This is starting to look like a wish list for Santa

hehehe

For what it's worth I have the USB (06FL) option factory installed but I also have use of the 6 CD MP3 capable CD stacker as well.

But maybe the CD capability is sacrificed if the option is retrofitted ?

I meant USB won't wipe out your cd-changer, but ipod gloveboax cable will...

yeap, 6FL doesn't have any effect on CD changer. The BMW MOST adaptor (i.e. the glovebox one) does. It mimics the CD changer and therefore replaces it. Same with mobridge.

I am not sure if it is the same but I had the iPod connector put into my 2006 335i after 3 months.
It sits in the glove box and yes lost the CD stacker (Who cares)
I have over 3,600 songs at my finger tips via the Screen and controls on the steering wheels
Sort by Genre, artists, album, any to go lists etc.
You just remember which CD number lines up with the above

Works great and the sound is far better then the cable which I had originally
I do have the upgraded stereo
The cost was quoted at approx. $900 but becuase the stuffed me around and had my car for two days they reduced it to $525...after adding to my Novated lease cost less than $300 tax effective.
Well worth it...simple to unplug and update on the home PC with new tracks or to go lists.

If its not 6FL, then you have the BMW ipod kit that connects to the MOST interface, they're the only two OEM options.
Sounds like you got a pretty good deal, I was quoted over $500 for the part plus labour so it would have been close to the $900 that you were quoted. Not sure its worth that but definately something I would like to have. I had a Dice in my e46 which gave me the same functionality so it feels like I've gone a step backwards in the e92.
Online its available for about $300 USD and there's a DIY, so I'll probably give it a go at some point.

Hey guys,

Did some more googling and found the ACM module installation...

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111110

Is there any reason why this wouldn't work on a AU car?
