Longevity of Black Wheels???

Hello guys,

So I currently have VMR's 710's. Great wheel, but I have noticed some interesting things that I never noticed on wheels before. First is that the chrome lip on my wheels is somehow getting dinged by rocks or something... The other is that the face of the wheels have gotten a few small chips here and there.

On my next car I want black wheels really badly, but I have been thinking to myself, what happens with black wheels when they chip or get dinged by rocks.

Can some of you with black wheels shed some light on this. Tell us how old your wheels are, what finish they are. Maybe post some pics of wear and tear?

Thanks,
D

I had a set of powder coated black volks on my 350z and never had a real "chip" issue, i know what you mean, i saw nicks and scratches in the wheel but nothing where you would really notice unless you cleaned them everyday and owned the car.

I have Advan RS in dark gun metallic. They don't have a lip so I can't speak of how it'll hold up.
I do have a few stone chips on my rear spokes, three per wheel. It isn't really noticable unless you look for them. They show up silver of course.

I can imagine if you would get your wheel powder coated that it would hold up better than almost anything else.

v710's don't have a chrome lip or any lip for that matter, do you mean you have the v715? That's the one that has a lip.
