2006 E90 330i oil issues

Hello. I am an owner of a 2006 E90 sedan and I notice my oil light tends to come on extremely often (I always go to a local dealership/shop and pick up the recommended oil for my car) and I was wondering if there's a known issue with the 2006 E90 magnesium block. I'd also like to add that my last oil change was back in July this year (not too long ago). If anyone has information on this please inform.

Thank you for the support.

My 330 takes a quart every 7k miles. None of my Hondas/Acuras take a drop of oil.

Different engines it appear have different characteristics where oil is concerned... I’ve had mine now 15k miles and not added a drop (in fact i'm a bit worried that the electric gauge is not working) but touch wood that’s just the way it is!

I did used to have an e46 316 however that was more like a 2 stroke than a 4 stroke with the amount of oil it used to drink... to the point where i went to the garage who told me that 1lt per something daft like 5kmiles was well within tolerances!

Spose it's just luck of the draw!

Turbo engines tend to burn about a quart of oil, on average, between each oil change. There is nothing you can really do about it because it is just the nature of a turbo. The non-turbo cars that i had in the past did not burn any oil or loose any oil either.

Long story short, if it seems to be loosing a lot of oil, like a quart every 1K miles, then you have an issue. If it is only about 1 quart every 7K miles, I would not be to worried.

I put in a quart about every 7K as well. I have heard it can depend on how well the car was broken in. If the rings were seated properly it will be less likely to burn oil and probably maintain better compression? Others with more tech skills can probably elaborate.
