Anybody try Castrol Syntec 0W-30 LL01 yet?

It's labeled as "European Formula" and the bottle says it's "made in Germany". It is labeled as meeting the BMW LL01 spec. You can find it at some Autozones. Just bought 7 quarts and am doing an oil change tonight.

Anybody tried it yet?

Edit: fyi...I've got 10,800 miles on the odo now and did my first oil change at about 3500 miles using BMW 5w-30...

sleepermax, go to www.bobistheoilguy.com You may have to become a forum member there, but there is a board dedicated to the oil you mentioned; it is known as German Castrol (GC). Just your mentioning that you were able to find 7 quarts of their beloved elixir will make many jealous, as it is not that easily available.

The short answer to your question is that you can use your GC with confidence. And just so you won't be shocked when you open up the first bottle, the oil is tinted GREEN (I kid you not).

Thanks! I'll check it out. Green oil, huh?
The Autozone I went to had plenty in stock....I may go back and stock up.

My mistake on the oil color. You probably bought GC Gold; they stopped making the GC green sometime in 2005. GC Gold is highly regarded as well.

GC availability depends on what part of the country you are in. See the boards I mentioned at your peril, for you will get more info than you probably can imagine. You can also search the Used Oil Analysis section for results on engines similar to yours.
