How does the extra 20% on ED work?

I know its been covered, but I cant find a decent (understandable ) answer Id like to do ED to save a few Ks but dont understand how the deposit is going to work.

I'm not sure what you mean by how the extra 20% deposit will work.

Typical deposits range only from $500 to $1K max and it's applied to your downpayment or to the actual total cost if you're paying cash.
