BMW appear to be doing a MINIMUM $4k discount on Efficient Dynamic cars ordered & delivered between Oct 10 and Nov 30.
1. Would this be on top of any dealer discount as (I think) it would be an incentive offered by BMW Australia??? If so this $4k+ discount would be a solid deal. 2. What happens if you have to order a new car from Germany so delivery will be after the deadline? 3. Is this just to clear out existing 09 stock? I got an email too regarding this incentive. I think this is similar to the BMW stimulus package earlier this year. It only applies to current stock that can deliver before the deadline. I custom order my 330d earlier this year during the sale time but did not really get money direct from BMW AUS for the purchase because it was a custom order of a brand new car delivered after the deadline.
So I would say that this is for current 09 stock on route or already in AUS. No harm to confirm with dealerships thou.

Yeah definately stocks that the dealer currently have or have it on ordered and its on route to Aus. I don't think it is even possible to have a customer custom built car to be delivered within 1 month time frame anyways.

I reckon it would be off rrp and you might be able to bargain more off for sure.
But its not like any other day when you bargain to x amount then you can apply the 4000 off like some coupon code. The real increase in savings wont be 4000 but hopefully a little more than without this promotion. But its hard to tell how much you can really get off a car due to so many dynamic factors affecting price. I would see it as an opportunity to perhaps save a bit more, but don’t compromise what you want too much to chase this perceived $4000 off because it’s not worth $4000. Bought a lot of BMWs so far (for others mainly) and always got 10% ordering new off factory when the model first come out to 15-20% on toward end of life models. 25K discount is also possible on m cars. Its just gotta be here already which is similar situation to this current promotion. Be aware that most of the bmw models are coming toward its "end of life". My next car is hoping to be C63, and never bought a merc, i gotta start from square 1 with my research again. Damn if it only it didnt look so hot and sound so awesome.... sigh.... |

http://bmw.com.au/com/en/insights/te...on.html?crdt=1 The fine print says "Offer cannot be combined with any other offer" but that usually means it can't be combined with any other official factory promotion. The ad also says "a minimum $4,000 retail value credit..." so you should be able to negotiate a bigger discount with the dealer, who can then use this factory promotion to part pay the discount. BMW seem to be having a sales events every 2 months. The last one was in August and included factory incentives with free scheduled servicing. I ignored that sales promotion, and in September negotiated a discount of ~11.5% off the drive-away price of a factory ordered 330d. The dealer did say that at that price they only broke even, but that's exactly what another dealer said when I bought my 1st beemer in 1996 with only a 5% discount. So I took that with a grain of salt ![]() |

lol, yep, lots of salt. If they sold you a car then they have profitted. One way or another. No way they would sell you are car to make nothing. Always amused me how they can continue to speak like that day in day out........

I think how it works is that the dealership actually get an extra $4000 off from BMW Australia. So what ever u get off extra is directly from the dealerships. So technically, u should be able to get much more discounts, origianl discount plus $4000. Just keep this in mind Zenderm3 when u go in to stealership.

That means that on LCT-payable cars, the $4,000 credit costs BMW $2,797. The remaining $1,203 is a saving on taxes that the government misses out on. |

You're right. Last xmas when they were phasing out the 335i auto in favour of the DCT, BMW Aust was giving the dealers approx $10k discount on the 08 auto's. I think they call it "bonus cash" or something. It meant that the dealer pays BMW Australia less for the car and pass the discount on to the purchaser. So it's not a dealer discount, but a BMW Aust one. |

Advertising the $4K Discount is only to get you interested and into the dealership. I think the deal you end up with is the same as you could do on any other day depending on how interested your dealer is in closing the deal. I wount go into detail here but my recent new buy needed money from BMW Australia in order for the dealer to close the deal (over and above what the dealer can discount by) and the amount that BMW Australia was prepared to tip in surprised me.
If you are interested in doing a deal, make sure you do your homework first, have a pricing strategy that suits you, and stick to it when negotiating. Good luck !! |

They played the game but came around in about 20 minutes, car was delivered the same afternoon. Ultimately it comes down to how keen the dealer is to move the car, if they are you'd be surprised at how far they'd go. |

Like all car manufacturers, BMW have already reduced capacity to meet falling demand. But they still need to move cars. At some point in the future when demand starts to pick up, they will provide less sales incentives in order to improve their margins.
Remember in the old days (pre GFC) when you could win a BMW in selected raffles, or for bigger promotions, you could win 1 of 3, or perhaps 1 of 5 BMWs. Well right now, you can win ONE OF 36 NEW BMW 320i's. That's one way to move cars! http://www.lgedrive.com.au/ |
