i also drove a few km's with a k&n sports intake en that sound was also awesome... but my contro lamp also went on, so i went to the dealer and they concluded a error in the air sensor hahaha... but for the sound without the sensors going crazy just take off the cover from the air box and you have a very nice sound

GruppeM already has one for the 4 cycl E90. I think they should be releasing the 6 cycl version soon.
Check out their website www.gruppem.co.jp for more info. You can see some photos of GruppeM installed in some of the BMWs like 1series, 3series, 5series, etc... |

I donīt believe aftermarket intakes are worth the trouble unless all you are looking for is a more agressive sound. As for power: Donīt expect too much (if anything). As for the downside: Your MAF might get killed and your voiding your warranty. Wether that is worth it is up to you.
But donīt miss out on the thread, itīs rather interesting: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...4&page=1&pp=25

I had a AEM system in my last car. To be honest I got tired of cleaning the dam filter with that nasty spray crap, not to mention it never seemed to get all the way clean. So I just put the stock one back in and I am back to a new filter for every change. Clean and easy and you know your not putting anything still possibly dirty back in the intake system. It did sound nice when I had it on though.

guys - keep in mind that there are still some benefits to the intake system
i had one on my e30 325i and it paid for itself in gas milage the intake let the engine breathe better and i got substantially more miles to the tank, but my intake was sucking hot air most of the time, because they didnt make heat shield for this car, and i saw no power increase but the sound was worth the install!!
