what is more restrictive, our 4 cats, or our 2 stock muffs?

im sure guessing that 4 cats would be more restrictive than the 2 rear muffs by a great deal, correct? anybody have a sound clip with no cats and the stock rear muffs still in tact?

Just gut the exhaust already, you know you want too.lol

Honestly you should get a good aftermarket system for the sound, performance, and weight savings. You would be happier I think.

Mufflers just make turbulence, they don't restrict much.

Imagine a section of pipe with holes drilled all over it, then a metal box that goes around that section...
That's basically a muffler.

I hear ya but your not going to get the same price per dollar ratio unless you go with N20.lol Just do some catless DP's and be done with it along with a good FMIC and Intake. Then later on when you find your nutzzz, get the meth kit That will be good bang for the buck.

Friend had it like that, catless dowpipes and stock exhaust with no secondary cats. Loved it, always said it was perfect. Especially if you lease.

Actually, if you look inside the mufflers, it's not restrictive at all.
The pipes are straight through.
The cats are much more restrictive.

Here's a pic of a 335 muffler that was cut open.

+1 ... Most Muffler/Catbacks don't make much power anyhow. All about the Cats!

ok so looks like next thing is to get rid of all the cats (after next weeks trip to the dealer for service). i figure about 300 for dp's, 50 for sims, and 150ish to have some removable testpipes with flanges on the stock cats for when i need to put them back on. so about 500ish for everything and should give me some good sound and also free up some ponies and spool the turboes a little faster. thanks all.
