for 2k you could most likely have a 11 second car lol
400-used jb3 300-catless DP's 600-intercooler 100-intake 400-some drag radials with light wheels hell thats only 1800 lol but hey obviously price is no concern to you, if you have that kind of money im sure dinan will be good extra boost in power and really smooth as well. |

but the guy who said JB3 was slow has less than 20 posts so maybe he did the JB3 install backwards or something.

not everyone brings there car to a track. i have 36,000 miles in 18 months because i drive my car for work in the city and lots of freeways. never had a single problem and if i did i wouldnt have to worry about it. i dont care to spend time with upgrades and updates or diy's. that why i paid $1,900 and was done with it. if i wanted the best bang for my buck i would have bough an evo. stop putting us done because we paid for simplicity. i bet you drive around for the cheapest gas too.

You need to read my post. Got rid of Dinan Stage 2 and got GIAC now. Woweewow. It's everything that Dinan should have been. Oh well, Dinan's loss. Once you try GIAC, you'll laugh at Dinan. But it's your money.

The rev2 version of the Dinan Stage II is toned down, be very careful spending the money.
rev1 people were dynoing 335-340whp rev2 people are dynoing 300-315whp That's alot of cash to throw down for a weak tune.

I paid for a tune that isn't a risk when going to any dealership for service (or anything else). I purchased the car new in March of 2008. At that time the other tunes (JB & ProCede) were what I consider to be headache tunes with everything that would have to be uninstalled & reinstalled out of fear the dealer "might catch me". The Dinan is legit & will never be an issue with a warranty claim on the car. At last dyno my car had a peak rwhp of 397 ........ respectable for a Dinan & bolt ons wouldn't you say? By the way, catted downpipes as well. The car still has the original BMW sw & Dinan flash which I believe has lent something to the overall mechanical reliability of the car. Quote:
By the way, for everyone reading this .......... ECU tunes & piggybacks shouldn't be (in my opinion) placed in comparison with each other. Last edited by ToadHollow; 10-17-2009 at 10:32 AM.. |

I'm all about spending a certain premium to obtain luxuries, Dinan was never about cost to me. The problem I have is that after spending thousands we are left with a tune that is grossly outperformed by a $200 piggyback.

Actually I spent $2000 on Dinan Stage 2 and now $800 on GIAC. But remember, when Dinan came out it was the only game in town concerning a flash. Now that GIAC is a player, everyone has options, and you really have to think twice on going with Dinan. Don't let the warranty persuade you. Two of my injectors went at 28,000 miles with Dinan on board and still they were replaced by BMW, no questions asked. The key is to develop a good relationship with your SA. Remember, it's not his money, not the stealership's money, it's BMW's money, so why would he care? I just think going with Dinan is the wrong way to go now that GIAC is in the game. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Question...why are there so many tuner nazi's here who feel the need to put down and disrespect people who decide to tune in a way they do not agree with?? I went with Dinan, who cares? I know it cost more, but I was not looking for the flat out fastest possible tune and did not want to do it myself. Why is that so wrong? I have a great relationship with my BMW Service team and will have zero problems with warranty coverage if anything happens. I felt this was important so I went with it.
If everyone HAD to have the fastest tune out there, why would there be choices? Just because everyone doesn't get the same tune, why the need for people to be such pricks about it? People go with Dinan, who the hell cares? Deal with it. |

because everyone feels what they have is the best choice, hence all the arguments. its always been an argument and always will be bud. but in all reality i love when people spend more for slower parts. makes it that much cheaper for me to beat them
