Is there a DIY Mod for e90 lower grills
Is there a mod to lose the horizontal bar in the Sedan lower grill? They made it really bright silver on 2007's so I suppose I could just paint it black, but I would really just like to be rid of it completely. Anyone ever attempt to remove it?
Thanks |

you can remove it, but it'll look wrong, because of how it's mounted. there'll be a blank spot with no mesh, and small tabs..
maybe you can replace the whole plastic grill with something? as long as it's classy. |

Yeah, Bav 19 did it. I painted mine black. Goes well with the JB, and complements my black-out grilles nicely.
Here's the link to Bav 19's thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ht=lower+grill

Bimmian sells wire mesh that you can put in place of the plastic. I think the pictures on their site looks kind of goofy, but with a modded car, I bet it would look pretty good.

You're talking about the lower finishing rods, right?
Its just a pull-snap off and snap on affair. There really isn't a DIY per se, but I checked with Bavarian19 before I replaced mine with 330i dark silver rods and confirmed that no tools are required just strategic and precise pulling and snapping back. Bavarian19 shared that you should start pulling from the ends oriented to the center of the car first. The all black rods from the 325i/328i should do the trick...its a pity I've replaced mine and sold off the black ones or I'd have traded with you.

actually there is someone whu used some tools to get the finishing rods off...the toosl included a can opener, a screwdriver, and can of beer. I think those instructions are in Bav's original thread. I took mine off, painte dthem black, and snapped them back on.

I find it funny that some try to chrome everything in site, and others (including me) try to black out evrything we can.
