Stony Brook is actually a little further east of Custom Cartoyz and detailing, about 10 minutes. +1 on Ralph and the crew over there though.

Ok what you want to get is the following:
Optimum No Rinse Wash 2 5 Gallon Buckets from Home Depot Grit Guards Put these at the bottom of the buckets. A couple Waffle Weave Drying Towels Two to three of these towels to follow up after the waffle weaves If your wheels are dirty, use this to pretreat them. Citrus Wheel Gel 3 Grout Sponges from Lowes. Make sure they are the proline brand, and not bone shaped, but this shape: Wash as you normally would using the 2 bucket method, except without rinseing. Use a capful more of Optimum No Rinse in your wash bucket than recommended, and just one capful in your rinse bucket. One difference, as soon as you wash one panel, you dry it right away, initially with the waffle weave, and then following up with the smaller towel. Wash the wheels last, so you don't get the wash water filthy and have to replace it to wash the rest of the car. If you get an extra bucket for just wheels, then you can do them first. Dedicate one sponge to be just for wheels, and also pick up some less expensive microfibers for the wheels from Target, as these will get dirtier quicker, so you don't want to use your super expensive DI towels on them. Using ONR is safe if done properly and is actually much quicker than using a hose and conventional washing. Also, if the car is very dirty, make a spray bottle with ONR dilluted in Quick Detailer strenght and pre treat the car before washing. Do this a section at a time as well to prevent water spotting. Oh and for 10% off, you can use my discount code, atozimdetailing. Hope I helped you guys out! (Shameless plug!) If you want a full detail to protect your car for the winter, PM me. (End Shameless plug!) |

There should be a self-service wash on Rt. 18 in east brunswick, southbound, right after the Acura dealer and the diner. I used to always self-wash my car there, when I lived in Piscataway....there's also the self-wash at Menlo, but it looked like a dump last time I passed there.
