Are you putting the transponders on your new wheels?
I hate the run flats. Since I will lease, I presume that I will have to turn back the car with the runflats. I intend on runnnig the runflats only for about 6 months and then store them to be re installed for lease turn in, I will replace them with new wheels and all season tires(which will have better tread wear and be a lot cheaper than the RFs). I'll throw one of the front Rfs in the trunk for a spare but am wondering what, if any, are the ramifications of not putting any transponders in the new tires. BTW, I have never had a car with a tire pressure monitoring system. I understand that if i do not put in the transponders, a warning light will be constantly on.

are you sure there even are transponders ?
in my E60 i changed the wheels and never moved any transponder and the typre pressure monitor still worked. I assumed it worked from the balance of the car ? |

hey Doc,
You also know there is no place for a spare tire in the 335 right ? So, it'll just be sliding around in the trunk !!!! Nice to see another S4 face in the club ! The Bridgestone RFTs are not horrible. I'd put them on par with just about any M+S or All Season tire. They've handled a few hammering canyon runs already. I'm just having trouble deciding what wheels to get, before going back to the PS2s......... Enjoy. kj |

You'll need the TPMS sensors and special valves installed on your new wheels to enable the TPMS to work. I'm planning on doing the same, installing a set of UHP AS tires on some decent wheels. Trying to decide on wheels as I have pretty well decided on Toyo Proxes 4 tires based on previous experience. Alternative tire is the Yokoham ADVAN S4. It is getting pretty good reviews on tirerack.com.
