installing ACschnitzer shift knob
did a search and couldn't find out the answer
I had a oem short shifter (same as nikki's) but i am replacing to ac schnitzer weighted knob and the ebrake lever. NO idea how to replace either of these new products since they are different. if anyone knows please shed some lighttt! cheers dave |

I would think it works just like any other knob that is compatible with your car. If you go to http://www.bavauto.com, select your car model/year and then search for the 'Bavarian Autosposrt Shift Kobs' you will find a PDF with the instructions. It says that from 1982 on, all BMW manual transmission have a snap-on style knob. Essentially you need to:
1) Put the shifter in 2nd gear and pull the old knob with some force. 2) Place the new knob over the shifter shaft, aligning the shaft slot with the knob tab, and then push it until is seated. |

the oem short shifter is connected to the shift boot with a metal band. You'll have to re-install your stock knob, then replace with the ACS knob. Then sell your short knob!

did you guys get it from ebay?
cause ebay is selling it for like over 100.... and the thing is....it looks EXACTLY like stock, jsut with the word AC SCHNITZER |
