How do I take down a aero lip with 3M tape?

Hi guys, recently due to some personal issue I decide to take off my aero lip but I don't know how. I used 3m tape and I am afraid that the tape will rip off the OEM paint~ And I notice my replica aero lip's interior is pretty rough like paper mache~ unlike the OEM aero lip.. so my concern is how to take off the aero lip, will the tape damage my paint, and would the rough surface of the replica lip scratch my paint?

I saw a video of a guy taking off his spoiler that had 3M tape sticking it to his bimmer.... His method was to use a micro-fibre cloth and just pull/slide it between the body and the piece and it should pop right off. After that he just used his fingers to rub/roll the glue from the 3M tape off. Lastly buff/cleaned the area. I think it would be a similar procedure for you but I'm not 100% sure.

Use fishing wire or floss to wedge between the paint and 3M tape. You can then use goo gone to get rid of the sticky residue. I suggest cleaning and rewaxing that area after doing this.

I sprayed a lot of Windex or window cleaning solution on the 3M tape and it eventually lubricated itself between the bumper and tape. And then use the steps mentioned above.

dental floss and fishing wire will scratch your bumper. park it in the sun for a couple hours and then just pull it off. either that or heat up the areas with a hair dryer, heat gun can do damage if you do not know what you are doing, and pull it off areas at a time.

I wouldn't use a heat gun that's just too much heat concentrated on plastic/paint your chances of bubbling up the paint will be pretty high. Stick with a blow dryer and goo gone. Spray the goo gone in the cracks between your bumper and the 3M tape and just let it sit for 10 minutes then use the blow dryer with one hand and pry the lip with the other hand or just get someone to hold the dryer over the area that you are pulling. If you remember where you stuck the double sided tape tackle the job in that order. Pretty easy.

spray goo-gone or wd-40 (that's what we used and it worked perfectly) and let it sit in the sun for about 5 min. Start prying off the tape and spray more on the tape as needed. The goo-gone & wd-40 will eat up the adhesive and the lip will come right off without any damage to the paint. Then just wash & wax clean afterwards.

considering how hard it is to take off the aero lip from 3M tape.. is it even necessary to use the bolts?

I was able to get a rear spoiler off by just pulling on it. The car sat in the sun all day on a 90 degree day. I never was a big fan of the spoiler, but I was not sure how to get it off easily. I just decided to pull up after it had been outside all day and it did not take too much effort.

I would use a heat gun where you think the tape is behind the aero lip. Should come off.
