Removing Lower Mesh on e92 Bumper?

Hey guys,

So I'm thinking of either painting the lower front bumper mesh black or taking it off all together on my e92. The most compelling idea to me at the moment seems to be painting the two outer portions black, then removing the center piece and getting some sort of stencil on my FMIC. What are people's thoughts on that? Has anyone done that before? I'm wondering if the mesh might be there for protection of the internals purposes, which I really hope isn't the case :. Anyways, any opinions, advice, or other comments are welcomed because I want to make sure I make the right choice here .

Thanks,

TK

I'd just paint the lower mesh black. You could just paint the sides but I wouldn't remove the middle mesh exposing the IC. Last thing you need is a big rock flying into there from some big ass rig on the highway.

Some people like the exposed IC, it's really up to you.

Here's a pic taken from a guy that's unhappy with his Aero lip topic a few posts down.

I think the car looks better with grilles in place personally.

He's talking about whether or not he should remove his center grille and expose the FMIC.

I really like the look of no "middle mesh" as long as there's some sort of design on the intercooler. How much of a risk am I running if I run it without the mesh?

The mesh is there for protection....by removing it you take a chance of having something damage the IC.

How much of a risk are you running? I can't tell you, because it's like saying if you tint your windows you'll get pulled over.

Bottom line is there's always a chance. Will it ever happen? Who knows.

If you like the look just do it, but I'd be prepared to shell out some $$ for a new IC if something ever does happen.
