Wheel alignment

Hi

My car has done about 14k now but the wheels are still nice and straight and feel great on highway. Should I do an alignment and balancing?

I had a bad experience with my old Lancer that the alignment actually gets worse after alignment from normal.

Any thought?

I've done 5,000km on my tyres and getting an alignment this friday. They say you should get it done every 5,000km - even more so when they are new as they "wear in".

My car was on a hoist today and I noticed one of the rears is wearing a bit faster than the others on the inner edge. I'd rather pay $80 getting this fixed now that replacing a $500 tyre!!

BMW cost $160.....but this month you also get a free cap and leather cleaner

I just get it done at an independant mechanic/tyre shop. Wayne Park to be exact if you are in Brisbane. They also have a pit ramp, because my car doesn't have much clearance (stock suspension!) it wouldn't fit on the ramp at the bridgestone shop

My alignment was done today. They said it's still slightly out and they want me to come back monday to finish it off once their best mechanic is in. Takes them about 90mins!

Also goes to show, regular alignments are important

dont do the wheel alignment if your car is fine. they could mess up your original alignments and it is very hard to get it back to normal again. at least from my experience..

I thought alighment takes less than 45min to get done.

Gee, the rear ones are off? I would think it would be the front ones that are off.

This is precisely what I mean. I don't want to get it done as my experience tells me they always make it WORSE.

So if it is only 'slightly out', why would they take '90mins' and get you to 'come back monday'? It sounds to me they have made it worse then before already.

You guys are getting it all wrong. They are excellent, they run all the race porches and ferraris and they only had 30mins to spend on my car before close which wasn't enough to get my alignment absolutely perfect as I dropped it off to them late. The alignment procedure is also open to human error, so you need someone good doing it and to do it properly takes 45-90 mins depending on how thorough they are. I don't know how out my front and rears were, but I was simply getting an alignment done for general maintenance and long tyre life - and also because i hit a v hard pothole. I doubt Bob Jane would have asked me to come back to 'finesse' it. To me it looks and drives perfect, so they must really mean business.

I know they did spend some time on my car because my filthy wheels had hand prints all over them.

They had one of the race porsches in there too... the slicks and wheel setup on that was impressive! Also a lotus and ferrari and an audi, fairly impressive workshop

Well thanks for the clarification. So may I please have their contact?

i curbed my wheels and had the alignment off (pulling to the left)

took it twice to beaurepairs and they never managed to fix the problem.

spent an afternoon at BMW (who did the alignment for free as part of my service) and it's back to driving like a dream.
