It's just the opposite of my case. My DME anticipates a large rush of air but never really get it. That's why there's a large hesitation at low rpm whenever you floor the go pedal. I'm just worried that my car is running too rich and dumping raw fuel through the cats.

Marcelo: Good luck man! (fingers crossed)
Well, I will 100% do this on my new 128i--if it works. Anyone else with 128i/328i's thinking about it? - Grayson |

Yay! A slot at the shop opened up. My car's going in tomorrow. Not sure how it will take because it's a side job so my car gets worked on last and I have some other items to take care of as well. Afterwords I'll see if I can put it on a dyno. Anyone know how close the manuals are to the steptronics on power? I'm sure it's close, the new ZF autos are pretty efficient.

Excellent, I can't wait to see your results. I would be highly surprised if you don't get 20 hp out of this. Take a look at this post for some dyno results including a 325i 6M: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...84&postcount=3 I was going to wait to post but screw it. I installed my intake over the weekend and am planning on taking my car back to the dyno this Friday. I have to say during my first test drive the car reacted poorly. Shifts were screwy and the low end torque was gone. Now after a few days shifts are back and the off the line response has returned. The DME must have adjusted to the increased air flow. The big difference I notice from the swap though is when the car gets above 3200 rpm. When I stomp on it there seems to be more torque at the higher rpms. I'm assuming that is when the adjusters are opening. When I tested them a week ago the mid range opened around 3,500 rpm. Then the high range opened only under heavy throttle and above 3,800 rpm. I'll post the results this weekend. Marcello I would definitely give your DME time to adjust before you dyno. |

I was able to dyno my car early this evening with just the 330 manifold and everything else stock. It looks like I'm getting about 8 hp at the wheels. Since my original baseline was using limited rpm range of 5k to 7k I can really only compare max hp. First pic is all three pulls using STD numbers. Then the next is the best pull for those who may want to see SAE. I couldn't believe the hp drop around 4,200 rpm then spike back up when the high end adjuster opens up. You can see that same type of dip on the 330 dyno sheets but definitely not as severe.
At this point I'm really curious to see what Marcelo will get with the ECU flash and manifold swap? |

Well photo buckect is not accessing me album so I can't post any pictures. I got my car back last night and everything appears to work ok but I still need to reset the ecu. I still get some strange throttle quirks that should go away once I disconnect the battery (which is more complicated than I thought). The is noticably quicker and pulls hard to redline and has way more torque in high gears. The party really starts at 4 grand. The sound is different too but very subtly so. The other thing is now my car is giving me an SES light for open gas cap ocasionally. Not sure if it's relates tonthe intake or not, but I'll check it out.
Need to get the car to the dyno. Anyone know a place open on Saturday in the bay area?

Everything is installed but I have an SES light for an apparently inrelated reason. The fuel tank is not sealing so I'm getting a tank vent fault. It has no bearing on power but I'm having issues with the ECU programming. I think an ECU reset will solve it but I can't disconnect the positive terminal of the battery because it is obstructed some module. Once I have all these thing figured out I'll get it on the dyno. This week is gonna be hectic but with Thanksgiving and all but I should be able to get it done next week.
The butt dyno tells me it definitly faster but not quite 275hp fast. I think the engine mapping is a little off. Once I have it reset it should work properly.

Update! Got the SES light fixed. The vent hose that attatches to the intake also connects to the fuel venting system. That hose was loose and was allowing the fuel tank to depressurize. It's fixed now.
I also took my car to BR Racing in Los Gatos to fix the throttle issue. Looks like it's not as easy as just loading new software and slapping on a new intake. I'm getting a full custom tune in the comming weeks which inculdes dyno runs. That software will probably be available for all of you with 325i's.

The car "feels" faster, but we all know how that can go. I do have some more imperical data. The DSC light will flash in places that it never did and the gas mileage has gone up to almost 26mpg avrage despite my testing out the new equipment. It used to be 23.7mpg.

Don't worry this is far from dead LOL. I'm waiting for a response from Powerchip. They're currently in SoCal but they have a couple of customers in the bay area that also need tuning. So, whenever they get that schedulesd I'll be heading to BR Racing in Los Gatos.
