Speaker replacement for E93
Has anyone successfully replaced the speakers on a convertible?
After almost a year no sign of the BSW upgrade, which BTW has left some people disappointed. I am curious to see if any of the other solutions (Morel, Hertz etc.) I read about work for the E93 as well. If anyone has a success story to share, please do! |

I heard they are all 4" on the E93, is that correct?
Can you squeeze a 5" in there or are you limited to the 4", any particular brands that don't work ? I agree too waiting for BSW is too long and too expensive when you can get plenty of hi end 4" for $99 a pair. |

The factory mid speakers in the E9x are all 100mm/4" speakers.
You can get more creative to add depth by front-loading and having a non-BMW grille. A shallow 5 can also use this approach. If you do that, you create a pinch point where the RH occupant will have their fingers hit the grille as they go to insert their hand behind the grab handle. For this reason and for sonic reflection and obstruction, I am considering a UK RHD door panel for my E91. But to stay behind the grille, I believe the MB Quart RUA210 mid will work. You will need mounting adapters - I make them out of mdf or I have some machined at a local shop. I hate the tweeter, so I have swapped the tweeter with the Hertz HT25 or the Morel MT23 with good results. |

So it's been argued by a couple of people that the weakest link in the speaker set is the tweeter. If replacing only the tweeters in the front door, do you need to also change the crossover? What about impedance and sensitivity match with the rest of the system.
If any of you has done it, can you provide details of model and installation? Thanks |

I believe the only difference between the 93 and the sisters is depth, and BSW give the option of the replacement speakers from their site,
I mounted the RUA210 and RUA213 with little mod... check my post http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=290683 in Europe BSW is not an option, actually it might be but way too expensive.... speakers+shipping+custom= ($590+$220)+20%= $972..... Holy.... and even with the euro being strong... €650!!!! RUA210+RUA213+shipping (no custom needed within the CEE-european community)= €65+€65+€25=€155 Do you guys think the BSW will sound 4 times better? Max |
