Which race dyno has impressed you the most?

I have been following the recent racing tuning developments and selected dynos that I think represents the best of what I've seen from each. I am wondering which dyno/tuning the forum finds the most impressive. Other modifications on all of the cars are similar. The differences are the tuning and fueling. The question is which race dyno is most impressive given its fueling. Which one would you prefer on a race track.

I also ask in advance no vendors or biased people running one of these tunes to participate to keep this thread on track.

Its GIAC, because they are making unbelievable numbers with a flash. It still needs work though.

These are still test files. These numbers were released as a simple stage 2 update as we had a great deal of requests for some sort of information. You might look at the plots posted today, this file is a 91/meth file, not a 104 octane file (we could make more with 104 octane).

Oh and, thank you!

Impressive tests none the less. I'll go and check out the new plots posted today on 91, since thats what I'll be stuck running in AZ.

Keep up the good work!

GIAC FTW. I couldn't be happier with my setup, and every customer's car we've flashed has been extremely happy as well!

i feel like if you were to average all the power made from all the jb3 drivers vs proceed drivers vs GIAC drivers, the jb3 on average makes more power than the other tunes and that is what is important not the freak exceptions but the consistant numbers, please correct me if im wrong

Impressed with all of them. Still not convinced to leave the piggy back world. Too happy with loading up maps in a minute and being able to remove the whole thing in 20. Nearest place to flash is 40 minutes away.

Most impressed by JB3s numbers

Most impressed by GIACs numbers coming out of nowhere (well, not really nowhere, but nowhere as far as n54 is concerned).

But still attached to my V3. It's always a hair behind in power, but it always has something else going for it. (see pnp meth).

GIAC, do you have any plans for a flash that intentionally has less torque than that? For tranny/traction related concerns of course.

Guys take this for what you will, but tuner numbers are not the most accurate. Actually I would go as far as saying they are worthless. Some of the tuners are very transparent, while others are obviously not. Now let me explain my statement... dynos can be can be calibrated to read whatever you want. Trust me, I have seen it done first hand for marketing reasons. Now, if there are legit baselines posted then you know what you are getting. For example, Terry produced a delta (increase) of 180 rwhp on the dyno you posted. Since we know the delta, we can compare it with other dyno numbers. This "dyno" glory stuff is becoming a joke.

We saw in other threads where the shop cars were producing the same dyno numbers as other tunes, yet when CUSTOMERS put the cars head to head one got destroyed. I am not saying to judge anyone yet, but lets see real world customer results with baselines before we decide to pass judgement on the winner.

Ive seen 15hp diffrence from one dyno to another. Thats my experience with the 2 ive been on. The trap speed in the 1/4 tells you best.

This is where the baseline is tremendously useful. When you have a baseline and can compare deltas, then you have real data that is useful.

Yeah, there can be huge huge differences.. comparing numbers you at least need the baseline from each.

True, however, the MD Automotive dyno that they ran on has been host to many 335i dyno days and Shiv's used it as well when they had a dynoday down in socal months back. There are at least 15-20 335 dynoplots stored on their computer there, including my own. That being said, the numbers are very impressive when compared to the other runs on that same dyno with 335s harboring the same list of mods, including a very special 335 that was Dyno'd there nearly 100 times in the past that they Dyno'd again today with this new GIAC Stage 2 Program.

I don't want to steal their thunder, so I'll let GIAC post up the info on this one when theyre ready, but my mind is blown over the results compared to the history of runs on the MD Auto Dynojet.

Have a good weekend guys!
