Changing Steering Wheel Buttons Functions?

Im going to pick up my new 335xi next week...and the first thing im going to do is to hardwire my V1. On that note, i had a custom hidden display in my ashtray (on my old e46 M3), however i dont think it looks to good in a 2010 335. Coming home from NYC this weekend i noticed the only reason i really liked the custom display was for the easier placement of the "mute" button.

Does anyone know if it would be possible changing one of the steering wheel buttons to make it MUTE my V1? Maybe the Circle-arrows one? I dont mind looking up at the V1, however i dislike reaching up to mute it. My goal would be able to mute it on-the-go with out taking my hands off the wheel.

All thoughts are welcome!
