Zen and the $400 nail

I just had to replace one of my 18" 255 runflat Bridgestones on my 335 because of a nail puncture. Cost around $400 including tax, fitting balancing at my local tire store. I felt pretty annoyed as it has only done 3k miles and the nail was only just on the "irreperable" part of the tire, just on the edge of the shoulder and I didn't drive on it flat. What bad luck you might say [I certainly did].
However, the Zen part is that I found out my local tire store does free winter-summer changeover of tires. Even though the tires are a bit more than mail order I don't need to get a new set of wheels and tire pressure sensors so it works out a lot less. I wouldn't get just the tires mail order as the local fitters seem to charge up to $40 per tire for changovers when you add runflat and tire pressure sensor surcharges to fitting and balancing charges.
So this event could end up saving me money after all?
Anyone else done the math on wheels plus tires vs changeover fees?

I don't know if I would be comfortable with them swapping tires on my rims twice a year. Too many chances for scratches etc. Think I would rather keep a whole set of wheels and all to change them myself.

I didn't think of that, good point.
But it is still a tradeoff - save a few hundred bucks vs risk of scratched wheels. I might still just take the risk

Also I am not sure but I wouldn't think that that would be good for the sidewalls of the runflats...you may want to do some research
