How do I recognise turbo wastegate probloems?
Folks,
I keep reading here constantly about turbo waste gate chatter, noises and generally problems with the waste gates. My understanding is that the problem is so common that BMW has released a new software in attempt to fix this. Having never owned a car with a turbo charged engine, but being highly technical, how do I recognize waste chatter? Is there a test I can do to attempt to potentially reproduce this problem? I own 2008 BMW 335i and the car just hit 7000 miles on the odometer. I believe that I am running the original factory software version since the car has been to a dealer only once so far for regular service. Thanks for your help and suggestions in advance! |

Rev it in neutral to about 3-4k rpm and when the revs are coming down listen for chatter.
Then you can drive in first gear or second, move to about 3-4k rpm and released the gas and again listen for the chatter. |
