2009 335i JB+ install issue
Hello,
I just attempted to install JB+ on a 2009 335i LCI and the JB+ connector does not fit into TMAP sensor. It seems as if the sensor has been changed and appears to have 3 wires while JB+ connector has 4? Any ideas or suggestions? What am I to do? Thanks in advance |

I installed mine on a June production '09 LCI so I also know that it fits...and WORKS!
I took the air cleaner off but having done it once, I'm sure I could do it without taking it off now. Even off you have to visualize it by feel. Assuming you have correct connector, flip it over and try. If you are looking at the install picture on the BMS page, the TMAP is down and below the DV's and the connector connects from the bottom > up. That pict kinds makes it look like it's on the same level as the DV's. On a side note - I think I am the only one that found the USB cable "tool" to be completely useless. I wasted 30 minutes trying to slip that under the clip and get two hands on it to pull it off. I finally looked around the garage and found a thin, flat metal clip from a garage door opener and had in off in 10 seconds. |

Just the thread that I was looking for.
I plan to purchase and install JB+ on my 09 e90 as well. There is a little bit of opening close to the diverter valve, where I can use my hand to reach down. Below the diverter valve that is closer to the driver seat, I can feel (I can't see it) what I think is the TMAP sensor (there are four small cables connect to it.). So, is this the TMAP sensor? How can you install the JB+ without removing the airbox since we just don't have enough room with the airbox on the way? Hell, I can only feel it with one hand, unable to see it at all. |

The installation with the airbox in place is a bit tricky, but definitely possible if you lean over the driver's side fender (toward the airbox) and use your right hand to release the clip, while holding a flashlight to examine the TMAP connector with your left. You will have to jam your arm down a ways and it isn't comfortable.
It really is a one-handed job and remember that the USB cable connector takes a bit more force to push under the TMAP connector clip than you would think. Other thin sheet-like items like a guitar pick might work better, but the advantage with the USB cable is that if you drop it, you have a leash. |

use a supermarket saver card..key ring version. tie a string to it so you can retrieve it if dropped. I found this version better than USB cable b\c it is flexible so less chance of breaking the TMAP plastic clips.
make sure you are not wearing a belt when you are leaning over. |

make sure you are connecting to the tmap sensor and not the maf sensor...
also: USB cord/ipod connector helped to lift the tab off the tmap sensor plug

Thanks for the tips, guys.
Yeah, the TMAP clip is really tight. After you unclip the sensor, would you be able to pull up the connector for you to connect the JB+? After disconnecting it, do you have to hold the connector? If I release the connector, I am concerned that it would fall off below the engine, making it hard for me to reach the connector. Just trying to be as careful as possible. |

It took me 30 min to figure it out first time
Second time 10 min Third time 3 min after disconnecting it, you don't have to hold it

I found that a dime works better for me than a USB connector...and it is narrow enough to ensure that the connector clips won't break off.
